Hi {{ first_name | friend}},

It's Friday, November 6, and I've been writing Selim's Notes for six days in a row.

This week, I've shared quite a few personal reflections.

Today, I want to switch gears a little and talk about something I've been working on for years: LinkedIn, newsletters, and content creation.

Looking back at my recent posts

I reviewed my last 20 LinkedIn posts to see what was working and what I could improve.

The topics were quite different.

Some were about personal milestones, like finishing my master's degree and running.

Others were about tools I've been testing, including beehiiv, talktohumans, Postiv, and Dub.

Others reflected on productivity, writing, and my everyday experiences.

A few things stood out.

The posts I was happiest with weren't necessarily the most polished.

They were the ones where I shared something I'd actually experienced, tested, or learned.

I've also tried using AI-generated images, templates, and writing agents to make content creation easier.

Some of those experiments didn't work as well as I'd hoped.

So I'm going back to using my own photos, recording my thoughts, and using AI mainly to help organize and edit my writing.

A more intentional LinkedIn strategy

Today, I came across a LinkedIn post outlining six steps he'd use to improve another creator's LinkedIn presence.

It made me think about how I could apply a similar approach to my own profile.

I've been writing on LinkedIn for years, but I still see plenty of opportunities to improve how everything connects.

Here's what I'm planning to work on:

1. Improve my profile

Review my headline, banner, About section, and Featured links.

Make it clearer what I do, whom I help, and where people can learn more.

2. Build a library of my best content

Instead of starting from scratch every time, I want to identify the posts, topics, and ideas that have worked well in the past.

Some of them could become longer newsletter articles, practical guides, or lead magnets.

3. Get clearer about my content topics

I want to focus more on a few areas:

  • LinkedIn, newsletters, and audience building

  • AI tools and practical workflows

  • Lead magnets, email marketing, and business growth

  • Personal experiences and lessons from the work I'm doing

I don't want every post to be promotional, but I do want people to understand what I work on.

4. Experiment with formats

I'll keep writing text posts and sharing my own photos.

But I also want to try more walkthroughs, short videos, and useful resources.

5. Review what actually matters

Impressions and likes are useful, but they're not the only outcomes I care about.

I also want to understand whether my content helps me meet interesting people, start conversations, grow my newsletters, and create business opportunities.

Connecting everything

I'm also trying to make my tools work together more intentionally.

LinkedIn for sharing ideas and having conversations.

Extrovert for finding relevant discussions without spending hours scrolling.

beehiiv for newsletters, websites, and growing an email audience.

Dub for managing and tracking links.

And AI tools for research, writing support, and automating repetitive tasks.

I'm already using most of these, but there's still room to improve how they fit together.

Something to work on this weekend

I don't expect to fix everything in a day.

But I'd like to start by reviewing my LinkedIn profile and building a more organized content library.

I'll share what I change and learn along the way.

And I'd like Selim's Notes to remain a place where I can share both personal experiences and practical things that might be useful to you.

If you'd like to see more LinkedIn and newsletter-focused content, you can also check my other newsletter, LeadLetters, on LinkedIn and at news.leadletters.co!

That's enough for today's note.

Have a good weekend!

Selim
