Day 3: The Best Way To Get Started Writing
A Guide to Platforms and Practices for Novice Writers

In our digital age, the ability to express yourself eloquently in writing is an invaluable skill. From personal growth to professional success, writing consistently offers numerous benefits. One of my friends recently asked how she could develop a habit of writing consistently. I recalled my initial struggles with the same question when I first got interested in writing. Today, I want to share my insights with you.
Here's my guide to kickstart your writing journey effectively:
Social Media: With the increasing prominence of digital communication, your existing social media channels are the perfect place to start practicing. Platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram not only offer invaluable resources for tips and inspiration, but also an existing audience of followers to engage with your content. The familiarity of these platforms also makes this a more comfortable starting point compared to launching your own blog or joining a new site.
Medium.com: When it comes to blogging, Medium reigns supreme. It's an excellent platform for those new to content creation who may not have specific goals that require a personal blog. Medium is user-friendly, and its large existing readership offers the potential for wider content exposure. Furthermore, it doesn't demand any payment or premium user status to write. However, subscribing enables you to access member-only premium content, offering valuable insights to enhance your writing skills. I've been a Medium member since 2017, and I consider it a sound monthly investment. Check out my Medium posts and other social accounts here.
Newsletters: If your ambitions include community building, offering services, selling products, or even writing a book, email newsletters are a fantastic option. Platforms like Beehiiv and Convertkit allow you to compile email addresses of your readers, thus creating a community. I personally use Beehiiv for my newsletters. You can learn more about beehiiv here and subscribe to my newsletter here.
Bonus Tip; Consistency:
Regardless of your platform choice, consistency is your passport to writing success. Regular practice sharpens your skills, builds your audience, and strengthens your voice.
I've seen significant growth in my writing and digital presence since starting my journey on these platforms. So, I encourage you to start writing today, remain consistent, and watch as your skills and audience grow.
For additional resources, consider taking on the Ship30for30 writing challenge. It's an excellent program to help enhance digital writing skills and establish a consistent writing habit.
Remember, the first step to becoming a writer is to start writing. So, let today be your Day 1.
Thanks for reading my e-mail; your support means a lot. I can't wait to meet again tomorrow and continue our adventure.
