Simple Framework Illustrated
I have been practicing Writing Online for the last five years.
Along the way, I have done all sorts of things to try to get better:
Read "The Art and Business of Online Writing" by Nicolas Cole.
Listened to "How I Write" by David Perell.
Asked for help from my mentors and experienced writers in my network.
And all of these things helped me a ton.
But if I had to start all over again (as a beginner), this is the simple framework I wish I had for learning how to write online:
Step 1: Join a Community as Soon as Possible
Being part of a community provides support, accountability, and valuable feedback. To learn the fundamentals and have accountability, I strongly suggest you check out this free email course and Ship30 Community!
Writing daily and sharing it publicly builds discipline and helps you improve through practice and feedback.
Step 3: Read Widely and Analyze What You Read
Reading and analyzing diverse content helps you understand different styles and techniques that you can incorporate into your own writing. If you'd like a reading list, check out this link.
When you're first starting out, this is all that matters.
